Who was Jane Gray Dustan?
Jane Gray Dustan was born in Belmont in 1924, where she attended the Belmont Day School for her Elementary education. She graduated from the Winsor School in Boston, received her bachelor’s from Vassar College, and a masters from New York University. In addition to a successful career as an advocate for children, serving as Vice President of the Foundation for Child Development from 1971 to 1990, she was involved in various organizations dedicated to youth and families. In 1998, Ms. Dustan made a generous donation to the Belmont Public Library, establishing a trust fund to be used on educational and enrichment programming for the children of Belmont. In recognition of her extreme generosity, the library’s children’s room was named in her honor.
