If the New Year has you feeling nostalgic for times passed, maybe taking a peak at our online collection of Belmont High School Yearbooks will be just the thing. We have yearbooks from the Roaring 20’s all the way up to 2016, a span of nearly 100 years!

Freelance author, photographer, and award-winning blogger Beatrice Peltre will discuss her latest book My French Family Table:  Recipes for a Life Filled with Food, Love, and Joie de Vivre at “Books and Bites” on Monday, December 12th at 11:00 AM in the Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library.  Peltre takes a relaxed, modern approach to classic French cooking.  The 120 gluten-free recipes in this book, depicted in Peltre’s stunning photos, provide home cooks with nourishing meals for the family table.  Recipes include morning foods, lunch soups, savory tarts, salads, snacks, main and side dishes, and sweet treats.  Peltre shows readers that family togetherness can come from lovingly prepared home meals.

beatrice-peltreBeatrice Peltre was born and raised in the countryside in northeastern France.  In addition to My French Family Table:  Recipes for a Life Filled with Food, Love, and Joie de Vivre, she has written the book La Tartine Gourmande:  Recipes for an Inspired Life.

 

All are welcome to attend this free program, sponsored by the Friends of the Belmont Public Library.  Refreshments will be provided.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.  The Assembly Room is handicapped accessible.

Boston Jazz Voices is an 18-voice a cappella ensemble devoted to vocal jazz. Come and sing along to all your seasonal favorites!

Library Friends Music on Saturday Series

The Belmont Public Library Friends Music on Saturday Series will take place from December 2016 to April 2017. On one Saturday afternoon in each month from January to April, talented musicians will present an hour of music from four world cultures.  All programs will begin at 3 p.m. in the library’s Assembly Room. Music on Saturday is free to all thanks to the sponsorship of the Friends of the Belmont Public Library.

Come for a paranormal presentation by Dustin Pari, a member of the TAPS team from the SyFy channel’s Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International. Hear about Dustin’s experiences as a Ghost Hunter, and ask him questions about his paranormal adventures. Books available for signing after the event.

BSP Invites Veterans to Share Their Stories

This November, we are encouraging Belmont Veterans to add their story to our town’s oral-history project, the Belmont Story Project. Your story matters: let us preserve it for future generations.

If you are interested in sharing your story, we have two recording time-slots ready to be reserved: Tuesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 17, both at 10:15AM, here at the Belmont Public Library.

Saturday, Oct 8th 10AM Indie Author Day

October 8th is INDIE AUTHOR DAY and this year we are honoring those in the indie industry with a panel of local authors and publishers. On Saturday, October 8th, from 10AM-12PM, come hear Alexa Rowan, LJ Cohen, Steve Gladstone, and Tamsen Parker talk about the indie publishing process. You’ll hear about their successes and tribulations, learn the tools and applications they use and recommend to get your book publish-ready, and discover useful resources and websites for indie authors.
