All Ages Halloween Party

On Tuesday, October 29th at 3:30pm come join us for some spooky crafts and fun.  Feel free to come dressed in your Halloween costumes!

And once the sun goes down, come back from 6:00-8:00pm and try your hand at our virtual reality haunted house!  We will have several scares on the menu so you never know what you might experience!  Be brave and see how long you last!

Hal Learson Joins the Belmont Story Project

Listen to Hal Learson discuss his memories of the Great Depression, World War II, and his 30+ years of service to the U.S. Navy during the Cold War. 

In this excerpt, he shares his experience at the Suez Canal in 1956, right after Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser retook control of the canal from the British and French.

Murder Mystery Party

The rumor is true! This place is HAUNTED!

That’s right!…and lots of famous sleuths, detectives and ghost hunters from around the world will be there to catch a glimpse of our famous, (and elusive), ghost Billy, (better known as ‘Billy, the Spook”).

Gee! If someone gets murdered, we’ll have plenty of detectives to solve the crime, won’t we!

Everyone plays a part! You could be Sherlock HomesMiss Garble, or even The Hardly Boys.

Join us on October 22 at 6:30pm for an evening of murder and mayhem as you try to solve a murder here at the library! This event is limited to 50 people and pizza will be served during the intermission.

If you are interested in genealogy, you won’t want to miss this workshop on Ancestry.com, library edition.  Ancestry is one of the most powerful resources for family history research that exists, and learning how to use it well, will help you not only with Ancestry, but with similar genealogy resources.  This 90-minute workshop, led by librarian Nancy McColm, will explore the types of information Ancestry holds, and provide search tips, and hands-on practice.   Registration is required, as space is limited.
 

Shots in the Dark – Author Talk

Join us Tuesday, October 8th at 7pm for an author talk with Daniel Zimmerman as he discusses his book, Shots in the Dark. Daniel will read segments from the book followed by several ‘how I did it’ stories. He will wraps up his talk with a Q&A.
 
Shots in the Dark will be on sale from Belmont Books the night of the event.

Author Bio: Daniel Zimmerman is married with a grown daughter and two young grandchildren. He lives in North Reading but prior to that, resided in Norwood for 50 years. He spent 25 years in EMS as an EMT/911 dispatcher before changing careers. He currently works for a major gas utility. His writing background includes 20 years as a newspaper stringer covering high school sports.
