Why Be a Friend?
“The Friends provide opportunities for our community to come together and connect with each other through the fun and interesting activities we sponsor. I like working at the book sales. You see a teacher’s delight when you tell them they can take as many books as they need to fill their classroom library. You experience the excitement of a child when they find books they are looking forward to reading. You hear adults sharing their favorite books with each other and encouraging people to read something new. It just feels like a happy place to be.”
Wendy Conroy
“The Friends fund important and much-appreciated programming. I love working on the book sales and can’t wait to resume after our new library is completed.”
Nancy Dignan
“The Friends are instrumental in helping the library bring amazing programs and events to the community. Through general funding, museum passes, and support, wherever needed, the Friends enhance the reach and impact of the Belmont Public Library. From sorting books to fundraising to staffing book sales and events, the Friends are a book-loving, literary legion of library lovers. Working towards one goal—supporting the Belmont Public Library, there isn’t a group you could enjoy volunteering with more.”
Hannah E. Fischer
“The Friends offer moral and financial support for the library programs. I enjoy helping people find books that they are interested in purchasing and reading.”
Louise Halstead
“As a parent of a bookworm, I really appreciate the role the Friends play in making our library not just a place for books but gateways to a rich world of stories, knowledge and imagination. Each visit with my daughter has become a shared experience of discovery and learning, and I’m grateful to the Friends for making our library a vibrant, beloved hub in our lives. Before joining the Friends, I didn’t know that we could get museum tickets and other items from the Library. Now, as co-treasurer, I can see how they are funded and why those programs are important to families with little ones like mine.”
