At the Library:

English for Beginners Class: New Partnership with English at Large.

Beginning in September 2026. This class for new English Learners meets twice per week at the Belmont Public Library. Please fill out this online form if you are interested in joining the upcoming class. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or call (781) 395-2374.

Volunteer-led English Conversation Groups.

For Learners with basic English proficiency, the library offers various English Conversation opportunities in person and online. These are typically series of 8 to 10 weekly meetings, organized multiple times a year. If you are interested in receiving updates about future English Conversation Opportunities, please fill out the Practice Your English Interest Form. Patron Participation Guidelines:

• Basic English proficiency is expected, but we do not assess fluency.
• Registration is required for all conversation series. Please choose the series that best fits your schedule. Registered patrons who do not attend a majority of sessions may be asked to withdraw and make room for those on the Wait List.

Other local organizations that serve Belmont residents are Project Literacy and Lamplight Women’s Literacy.
