The Belmont Public Library is pleased to support teens in their desire to make a difference in their community through programs and service projects!
While all teen-led events will be supervised by a library staff member, the applicant(s) are wholly responsible for running the event. Please be aware that the library is only able to approve a limited number of teen-led events per quarter. Fundraising for outside organizations is not permitted in the library. Teen-led service projects also require approval of the library’s administration. The decision of the library regarding the approval or denial of all applications is final.
Selection decisions will be made using the following criteria:
- The applicant has completed all information requested in the application.
- The event is well thought out and detailed.
- Applicant clearly articulates the reasons for selecting the chosen event.
- Materials are presented in an organized manner.
- Potential costs are identified.
- Possible pitfalls and challenges in successfully completing the event are considered.
- Responsiveness to the Teen Librarian during the application process.
- Appropriateness of the event for the audience identified, and the library in general.
- Other current or upcoming library program offerings.
Successful applicants will be provided with:
- Limited mentoring from a library staff member to guide the development of content, event structure, and advertising plan.
- Event space, including tables, chairs, laptops, projectors/screens.
- Use of the library’s online event registration system.
- Print and online advertising.
- Copies of handouts for a class.
