Claflin Room

Formerly the Belmont Room, the Claflin Room housed important items of local history but is now closed to the public due to the impending library move. The Belmont Historical Society oversaw the care and maintenance of the room, and has since moved operations to the Beech Street Center; their hours noted on their website. The Historical Society’s collection includes:

  • Two murals of old Belmont, original art, books by Belmont authors, materials relating to the town, and historical artifacts.
  • The library and Claflin Room have incomplete holdings of past years of the Belmont Residents list, the Belmont High School yearbooks, Town annual reports.
  • Belmont Historical Society files of historic documents and artifacts.
  • Digitized Belmont Residents Lists from 1911 to 2009 are in the Internet Archive.
    • Residents lists for some years were missing, or deemed too fragile to digitize. If you want a year that is not digitized, please call the Belmont Historical Society at 617-489-2000 ext. 2878 to determine if a print copy is available in the Claflin Room.
