The Library will be closed on Sunday January 20th due to inclement weather, and Monday January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will reopen for normal hours on Tuesday January 22nd.

Claflin Room

Formerly the Belmont Room, the Claflin Room houses important items of local history. The Belmont Historical Societyoversees the care and maintenance of the room, and has volunteers who open the room to library patrons during the hours noted below.  The Belmont Historical Socity can be reached at [email protected].

The collection includes:

  • Two murals of old Belmont, original art, books by Belmont authors, materials relating to the town, and historical artifacts.
  • Belmont Historical Society files of historic documents and artifacts.
  • Digitized Belmont Residents Lists from 1911 to 2009 are in the Internet Archive.
    • Residents lists for some years were missing, or deemed too fragile to
      digitize. If you want a year that is not digitized, please call the Belmont Historical Society at 617-489-2000 ext. 2878 to determine if a print copy is available in the Claflin Room.
