MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS

The Children’s Room has volunteer opportunities for 6th-7th graders.

Book Buddies
This monthly program pairs middle school students with a child in kindergarten-second grade. The beginning readers practice their reading skills by reading aloud to their middle school buddy in a fun and friendly environment. Book Buddies generally meets the first Monday of each month; multiple month commitment preferred. Sign-up required; to sign up, stop by the Children’s Reference Desk.

Community Service Club
This monthly program allows middle school students to complete service projects together in an informal setting. Projects will change each month, but will include craft projects, writing book reviews, helping librarians prepare for programs, and more. Fall dates are October 18, November 15, and December 13. The club meets from 3:00-4:30; latecomers are welcome and no registration is required.
