On Display: Steve Johnson Photography

“Romania’s Triumph,” an exhibit of photos by photographer and Belmont resident Steve Johnson, will be on display in the lobby and reading room of the Belmont Public Library from Monday, September 19th through Monday, October 31st.

Johnson has produced a series of photos depicting the emergence of democracy and prosperity in Romania, through the faces and facets of that beautiful land.  The framed prints encompass a tour through the mountains and valleys of Oltania, Transylvania, and Maramures.

Johnson began his career as a journalist, writing and photographing for small newspapers and magazines, and then branched out into commercial and architectural clientele.  He was a staff medical photographer for many years at Tufts Medical Center, and still works regularly with local hospitals and universities.

For Johnson, photography is portraiture.  He says:  “Whether it’s a person, a product, or a building, they all have human qualities.  Those are the facets I aim to bring to light.”
